A Dance to Remember
for a Travel Themed Wedding
– JULIA & JORGE –
I am the dancer – You are the dance
Julia, 31 and a consultant, and service manager Jorge, 32, met in geology class in college. Julia thought Jorge was suave with the ladies but she had no romantic interest in him at first. Jorge thought Julia had a good sense of humour but was much tougher with him than the other girls. Jorge persevered. They had their first date at a supper club and ended up dancing all night to the sounds of Latin music. “We love to dance,” said Julia. “Which is why we decided to surprise our wedding guests with an elaborate first dance choreography that we practised for months.”
The last four years of Julia and Jorge’s 12 year relationship involved travel. After travelling to 40 countries together, Jorge decided to propose on a weekend trip to South Beach, Miami. He organized a treasure hunt with postcards from their travels, each of which bore a clue to the next destination. The final destination was the beach, where Jorge was waiting with flowers and champagne along with a photographer to immortalize his proposal.
It came as no surprise to their friends and family that they decided to make travel their wedding theme. A world map served as a seating chart and guests found themselves directed towards hand painted table signs. Each had landscapes. of the various cities they had visited, such as Paris, Barcelona, Tokyo and London, to name a few. And that dance? “We brought the house down,” said Jorge.
