THE CELEBRATION OF OUR DIFFERENCES
IS THE SPARK THAT IGNITES OUR LOVE
Romy Costantine and Horea Cristian Fratean first met at a cottage party in Saint Sauveur in 2014. According to Horea, he was immediately drawn to Romy.”Something clicked inside of me and I just knew she was my destiny,” said Horea. “She was elegant and beautiful and I couldn’t take my eyes off her.” Romy, on the otherhand was not looking for a relationship but thought that Horea was easy to get along with and had an incredible energy that she wanted to be around. “I remember thinking, Horea is exactly the kind of man I wanted to be with,” said Romy. A few months later, they began dating.
Romy’s love of hiking inspired Horea to plan a trip from Montreal to Charlevoix for a day’s hike up the Acropole des Draveurs trail. “It was a challenge but I knew I just had to get to the summit,” said Horea. They arrived at the top of the first mountain peak with a romantic view of the fabulous vistas of the Rivière Malbaie valley. When Romy turned around she found Horea down on one knee. Romy immediately blurted out, “What are you doing?” to which Horea replied “Will you marry me?” She accepted and on July 21, 2018 they said “I do” during a traditional Byzantine ceremony at Cathédrale Saint-Sauveur in Montreal.
Romantic and enchanting with an outdoor undertone was the inspiration for the couple’s gold, blush and ivory wedding colour theme. “We opted for soft colours for the floral bouquets and arrangements, namely blush, taupe and ivory,” said Romy. “My wedding dress was ivory with blush undertones and although the bridesmaids chose their own dress styles, the dress colours were in the same colour palette and harmonized beautifully.” And the day’s highlight for the couple? “Merging our Lebanese and Romanian roots for a one of a kind wedding,” said the couple. “The dancing started as soon as we made our entrance with electrifying musical performances from both cultures and didn’t stop till the wee hours of the morning. We couldn’t have been happier with the outcome of our wedding day.”
